"The airports are reporting that the successful reading of the RFID computer-like chips is 99.5%. The draw back is the cost of the chip for a one time use and the costs of the tracing devices. Over time, we hope their cost would come down, The Coalition is working on building the chip into the luggage itself for repeated use, making the cost negligible," said Harvey Abelson, Coalition Director.
Richard A. Altomare, Founder and President of the Coalition for Luggage Security and CEO of Universal Express, Inc. (OTCBB:USXP - News) added "The Coalition believes that RFID will play a role in shipping luggage. Lost and unsecured, unidentified, ownerless luggage could become a thing of the past. Luggage Express of Universal Express already has begun utilizing these chips."
"The technology itself will not create safer flying conditions. We do believe though that technology 'plus' a system of handling luggage as cargo and separating it from the passengers will result in a safer system (

Furthermore, these measures would create savings for taxpayers and travelers due to the decreased governmental and airline security expenses," concluded Mr. Altomare.
