SEOUL (Dow Jones)--South Korea's sovereign wealth fund Korea Investment Corp., or KIC, said Friday it has yet to decide on any further investment in Bank of America (BAC) shares.
KIC said in a statement it will decide later what to do with the dividends from its existing investment in Bank of America shares, after closely monitoring global economic and financial market conditions.
KIC has been holding around $145 million worth in dividends from existing BOA share investments, a portion of which has already been used for other investments, a KIC official, who declined to be named, said. He didn't elaborate.
KIC's comments come after local media reported earlier in the day that the fund plans to buy more Bank of America shares and that it is also looking to invest up to $200 million to buy assets in China on the view that the Hong Kong dollar and China yuan will appreciate significantly in the future.
KIC, however, said in the statement it has yet to decide on how much it plans to invest in yuan assets, though it holds a medium- to long-term plan to invest in these assets.
