NEW YORK, Mar 22, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Monogram Energy, Inc. (pinksheets:MGRN), aka Marquis Tech Holdings, Inc. announces today that is has acquired 100% of the shares of Astrolobe Technology, Inc., a private Guyanese company which provides consulting services to mining companies in Guyana.
Astrolobe Technology has always sought to improve the operating efficiency of its clients and through the years has gained invaluable insights into the world of mining in Guyana. Through its endeavors, Astrolobe Technology ended up acquiring interests in a gold mining property of its own. Being in the business, Astrolobe is frequently confronted with opportunities which it must turn away because they are either too big or too expensive. Marquis is looking to change that, and give the company the added resources it needs to take on any highly lucrative projects.
A few weeks ago, the Minister of Finance, Dr Ashni Singh presented what he justifiably called the largest budget in Guyana's history under the theme, "Together Building Tomorrow's Guyana Today". Dr Singh announced: "The economic importance of the gold mining sector continues to be significant in terms of its contribution to production, exports and employment. This year has seen an increase in the number of operational dredges in the sector and for the second consecutive year gold has recorded declarations above the 300,000 ounce mark. Going forward, strengthened management of the sector will result in greater emphasis being placed on the improved recovery of gold and fine gold, and improved environmental compliance. Technical assistance will be provided to small and medium scale miners to improve mining practices and increase levels of recovery. While the prevailing high prices augur well for the future of gold production by small and medium scale miners, it also acts as a strong incentive for sustaining large scale exploration efforts. Already, two potential large scale gold deposits have been identified for which feasibility studies are being undertaken. These large scale projects could result in substantial investments in the future, and infusion of new and transformative technology into the industry. As always, Government stands ready to support the expansion of this important sector."
