The Wall Street Journal says that while chip designer ESST is regaining favor with investors by focusing on DVD players, there are early signs that the fast growing market for DVDs is slowing down, which could cut short the co's resurgence. A slowdown in the DVD market could trigger a price war in chips and decimate profits much as the drop in PC sales did, and bears already see signs that the torrid pace of DVD sales is about to cool; also, bears note that ESST relies on a small number of co's for the majority of its sales.
