As you may be aware, Ameritrade clients were unable to place trades on ameritrade.com in the later part of the regular session on Wednesday, January 28th.
After careful review we want to update you on why this happened and what steps are being taken to prevent this same issue in the future.
What happened?
Clients were unable to get quotes due to a breakdown in the feed from our third-party quote provider. Because a current quote is required to complete an online order, clients were also unable to place trades on ameritrade.com.
What has been done about it?
We were able to quickly identify the underlying cause of the problem and make the corrections necessary to allow the delivery of the required quote information. Changes are being implemented to help reduce the possibility of a recurrence of this problem.
