1. MORNING OUTLOOK
U.S. stocks posted modest gains Friday on positive sales data from
retailers Amazon and Sharper Image and a bounce in food stocks hit
by Wednesday's mad-cow scare. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
added 19.48 points, or 0.19 percent, to 10,324.67. The Nasdaq
Composite added 3.91 points, or 0.20 percent, to 1,973.14 while
the Nasdaq 100 Index added 0.67 points, or 0.05 percent, to
1443.86. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 0.17 percent while
the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization stocks added 0.46
percent. Volume amounted to .35 billion on the NYSE and .53
billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth was positive,
with Advancers were leading Decliners by 1983 to 1084 on the NYSE.
Nasdaq's Advancers were leading Decliners by 1773 to 1212.
Dow gained 19.5 points to close at 10324. Dow is trading with
positive momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is clearly trading
in overbought condition and trading in extended trading range.
Although Dow has a good potential to trade even higher in the next
few weeks, a modest retracement is expected in the next few
sessions to pressure from overbought levels. Watch 10375 level for
breakout and 10300 level for potential pullback. DOW's resistance
levels are: 10453, 10587, 10752. DOW's support levels are: 10195,
10066, 9951. Nasdaq gained 4 points to close at 1973. Nasdaq is
trding with positive momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Nasdaq has
good potential to move higher in the next few sessions. NASDAQ's
resistance levels are: 1994, 2020, 2031. NASDAQ's support levels
are: 1953, 1928, 1916. Monday's trading could be cautious and
active.
